Anil Gurung is a Nepali international player who currently plays as a striker for Indonesian club Persisam Putra Samarinda Club and Nepali National Football Team. He was born at Malepatan, Pokhara, Nepal. He became a highlighted player when the news flashed out about his trial to reserve team of Chelsea and Woking FC in England. Chelsea FC handled the football expenses during the trial period. Sahara club (Pokhara) helped him for the process of trial.

He started playing football at the age of thirteen. He passed schooling from Barahi Higher Secondary School. Though his parents wanted him to become an army, he wanted to be a footballer and he joined the Sahara club in 2001 and started his career. He is awarded with many trophies and cash prizes. He was awarded with Man of the match (Itahari Gold Cup 2063), Best Player ( 10^th Buddha Subbha Gold Cup), Best Player (Governer Gold Cup 2064), Best Player(Nepal Khel Khud Patrakar Manch).Besides these awards he was the highest scorer in many games and was awarded with cash prizes and motorbikes. This is why he is highly recognized player of Nepal and also the highest paid player. He signed a three year contract with I-eague club Shillong Lajong FC for Nrs.6.3 million which made him the highest paid player of Nepal.
